Midnight Masses

With the end of February came the end of Midnight Masses’ month-long residency at Union Pool in Brooklyn. At their final residency show, a few band members were able to come together with their other band, …And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead. It seemed like an amazing show, according to NYC Taper who was there, recording the set. Check it out here! If you missed any of the Union Pool shows, fear not. That is, if you’ll be at South by Southwest this year. Midnight Masses will be playing at Levi’s Fader Fort at SXSW on March 19th. Future Magic Volume 1 Available Today on Said the Gramophone

For one week only starting today, March 8, Said the Gramophone is exclusively premiering Mushpot’s eleven-song compilation – Future Magic Volume 1 – as a free download. We’re giddy as can be to present a compilation that features exclusive and soon-to-be-released songs from: Emperor X, Family Portrait, Candy Claws, Capybara, Yawn, Magic Magic, Please Quiet Ourselves, Baby Birds Don’t Drink Milk, Arc in Round, Jumbling Towers and WAMPIRE. Today, Said the Gramophone was kind enough to write about WAMPIRE’s contribution “Magic Light” with intimate lyrics that sweetly linger like an early spring night. After this week, Future Magic Volume 1 will be available through this site and participating artists.

Remember, if you’re going to be down in Austin this year you are cordially invited to help us celebrate this new compilation at the official release party that’s taking place as part of the Anodyne, The Record Machine and Mushpot 2010 SXSW Day Party.

A million, billion thank yous to the most wonderful, gifted artists that contributed a track and made this compilation possible. We are totally smitten with y’all.

Going for Radio 200 Adds 3/8: A Weather "Everyday Balloons"

Spring is just 15 days away and we have the perfect album to celebrate slightly longer days, warmer weather, April showers and May flowers. A Weather’s sophomore album, Everyday Balloons was released on Team Love records March 2 and going for CMJ Radio 200 adds the week of March 8. Spinner has had the full album available for streaming and it has been receiving lots of compliments and admiration so far. Alternative Press called Everyday Balloons “intimate and atmospheric” and “breathy lullabies,” while The Portland Mercury’s End Hits blog raved that “ …the record is an absolute stunner, bound to be one of the finest albums you’ll hear all year.” If you’re still not feeling Springy enough, make sure to catch A Weather on tour in April. Take a look at the dates here. If you’re in Brooklyn or St. Louis, do be sure to find a Mushpot lady at either show and say “hello!”

Mushpot at South by Southwest Music Festival

Why hello lil’ doggies! Liz and DLV are going to be kicking their heels up in Austin, TX this month to bring you a slammin’ SxSw day party! Peep the details below and let us know via Facebook or Twitter if you’ll be coming to share a brew with us! Don’t forget to also check out set times for all of our Mushpot bands during the festival. Let’s cut a rug!

Anodyne Records, The Record Machine and Mushpot are teaming up to present a SXSW Day Party at The Jackalope Thursday, March 18. From 2PM til 7PM six bands from Anodyne and The Record Machine will be taking over the stage. There will be free beer and no wristbands or RSVP required.
